The site mentions some great AJAX frameworks.

Me personally?

I'm going with Rico for some of my projects...I may even add on to it in the future. :-)

If one was to be moderately versed in an OOP language and knows at least a little javascript to begin with Ext.js is the best... hands down! Originally buily on YUI.

YUI was criticized as a very heavy resource hog. And ExtJS is built upon this? I experimented with the ExtJS grid table widget and I was turned-off with its lack of responsiveness and convoluted design. Can anyone comment on this?

I've used quite a few frameworks, and I found that I prefer using ExtJS. It started out as extensions to Yui but turned into its own independent framework. It has always been rather snappy to me. It has the best documentation by far.
