Most companies say its your job to come up to speed on the latest technology since you're the professional.
We've all been there before. A new language or technology comes out. It's called ummm...Flitiphoist (imaginary programming language). The boss "read somewhere" that its the newest, latest and greatest thing out there and he wants to start spec-ing the project using that new language/technology.
When you hear the news, fear sets in. You start to panic. "I don't know Flitiphoist! What am I going to do?" Sounds more like a Dilbert cartoon, doesn't it?

A great list of portable USB (thumbdrive) software.
I chose to put this post under the small business category instead of technology because of the nature of the link.
Most business people and consultants are always on the run. Instead of having a CD case with you, it may be easier to just carry around 1 or 2 1-Gigabyte thumb drives with all of the listed software on it.

This is the equivalent of the "What's in your wallet?" commercial. What extensions do you have installed in Firefox?
Everyone has his or her “can’t live without” extensions for Firefox and everyone asks me what extensions *I* use with Firefox. I have a lot of them.
Not only do I use each one on a daily basis, I’d recommended this set of extensions to any developer or designer easily.
