We all know and love Google, but there are some things that we can do without (Sorry, Google). This is where the CustomizeGoogle Firefox extension comes into play.

Install the extension and open your extensions options (Tools/Extensions and double-click the CustomizeGoogle extension).

Customize Google

The extension provides a lot of options for the search engine, such as remove those pesky ads, use Google Suggest when typing in searches, and even adds additional links depending on what you search for (i.e. weather, movies, news, etc.).

Each tab has an option for removing AdSense ads from the results returned. As you can see across the top, the extension is applied to all things Google and can be applied to all or none of the sites. It is nice to have these options available, but you may prefer to leave them unchecked.

Another kudo to the author is the option of showing how to install and use the extension. For beginners, you have the option of a Flash movie, an animated GIF, or a Windows Media movie. Catchy jingle on the Flash movie, too.

Overall, its a good enhancement to Google...just because its not "evil." :-)
