Google Apps for your domain has gone premium for businesses.
Wow. Where do I start with this news since I've seen it here, here, here, here, here...oh...and here.
I am happy that Google Apps are moving towards a business model, but even happier that they are pursuing a MS Office mentality. Collaboration is what businesses need, but with the proper security enabled. I have noticed a couple URL's with Google that are missing the "https" at the beginning.
Google Apps for your domain is now for your office, but at a premium. In my opinion, the features included don't justify $50/month. With the $50 a month, you receive no ads displayed, 10GB of mail storage, service level agreements that promise 99.9% uptime and 24/7 tech support. An instant virtual office.
If you want to compare the two levels of service, check it out here.
Personally, I'd rather go with the Google Powered Office Tools (another here) by Reto Meier. He's taken it to the next level with the Google services and combined two or three services to power a small startup. Some examples include Business Mail with GMail, a knowledge base with Google Base/Groups, and a timesheet example.
This type of development may even spawn an online Google version of Outlook?
