A continuing look at branding in various ways to give your audience an image of how you want to look.

Based on my previous post a while back, the idea was to attach a brand to a product, or yourself, to show businesses you are unique and provide an extremely valuable service or product that no other company can match.

As an intro to this post, John Williams at Entrepreneur.com describes the basics of branding for those who are trying to find the words to describe it.

If you are a Micro-ISV, your primary focus may be personal branding. Jesse Warden has provided a personal branding checklist for individuals (but its just as good for mISV's). I could not find another web site that compares to the breadth of this checklist.

For those who are looking at branding web sites, I have to go back to john williams at entrepreneur.com about how to brand your website. Mr. Williams talks about how to take your web site, corporate or personal, and provide your audience with the proper image so people can identify the site to your name or company.

Branding products are even more difficult because if you already have an existing product in the market, it may be more difficult to change the image of the product than you think. However, if you have a community to back you up on your product, your audience may be your biggest asset. Community may even define the branding of your product.

What's that, you say? You don't have a community for your product? Well, I just so happen to have a valuable post from MyMicroISV.com about how to build a community around your Micro-ISV product.

If you are looking for some secret tips of branding, you may want to look at the secrets to better branding by Roy Williams at Entrepreneur.com (Hmm, wonder if they're related).

If you are still having problems with branding, you may want to hire a branding professional.
