Business 2.0 is on it's way out based on some interesting news.
Based on what I've been reading lately from Valleywag, it seems that the Business 2.0 magazine is going out of business. Ironic, is it not?
The New York Times originally talked about this problem three days ago. According to the article, current and former employees of Time Inc. thought that a bad move occurred:

One of the men who got me hooked on computers and programming.
Everyone who knows me knows that computers have been part of my life since I received my Commodore VIC-20 back in 1981. Since then, I've always been fascinated and immediately knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life: program.
One individual, specifically an author, was considered my mentor even though he never knew me.

Take a spin on the new DCS Media.
Over the past four months, I have been working on this new design and this is the result.
For those who know me, I decided to build my own blog system. It was custom built from the ground up and provides a lot of features that the fully-loaded blogs contain.

"Commodore" is generating quite a buzz lately and starting to focus on gaming machines.
Ahh..the good ole days.
The Commodore Gaming company is preparing to sell new gaming machines under the old name Commodore. The company is creating high-powered machines similar to Alienware. Ars Technica has more details.

For a brief time, comments are disabled for three reasons:
- I'm testing out the new design of the site which uses a new method of adding comments to the site.
- The office is slowly being upgraded (hardware-wise) and work is backing up.
- Just because I'm really tired of comment spammers.
In a couple of weeks, I'll reveal the new site. Everything should be back to normal and I'll turn the comments back on.

I'm back from being out almost a week.
Last Thursday night, I started getting sick and since then I haven't been 100% functional.
After getting over a sickness this past week, (as the song goes) I can see clearly now (literally) and start writing again.

After growing up using platters for hard drives, the time has finally arrived.
Mark this day on your calendar, folks.
Since 1980, technologists have been using "platter" hard drives and are still being used today.

Prepare for an awesome year!
Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone had some great holiday time off.
There is also another celebration I'm personally having in which DCS Media has turned 1 today. After posting over 500 posts this years, I feel better about using technology (including this site) to help individuals who want to stay ahead of the technology curve. A lot has happened in the last year, and I expect a lot to happen in this year as well.

It's good to see Columbus, OH on the list. :-)
For those who live in the fabulous city of Columbus, OH, I just read a report over at Columbus Best Blog about Columbus, OH being one of the top 10 cities with the best real estate in the region (8th to be precise, and 34th nationally).
CNN.Money.com posted the results and sectioned the cities according to region: Northeast, South, Midwest, and West.

Here are my technology predictions for 2007. Others may follow...
Every technologist should go through with this little exercise of predicting what may happen in the next year. It keeps your skills honed for each year and it shows everyone how "hooked in" you are as a technologist in your career. Besides, its fun to guess the future.
The reason I'm doing this is because Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.net has started a Reviews and Predictions Link-Fest. It's a great opportunity to see everyone's predictions and reviews for what's going to happen next year.

Anybody wonder why I haven't posted for a week and a half? I had a family crisis and a real eye-opener.
September 17, 2006 will go down in my personal history as the beginning of the worst week of my life. I know this is a technology/business blog and this is a little off-topic, but I feel I needed to let some people know about what happened to my family over the past week and why its been a little sparse on this site for the past week and a half and why I'm still trying to get my head screwed back on.
This is basically the first post since September 15, 2006, but for good reason.

Not that we have enough to worry about in the IT industry.
Great! Just when I thought it was safe to go from Intel to AMD...this happens.
Computing.co.uk reported that Symantec scientists have discovered a way for viruses to penetrate down to the hardware level and attack the AMD chips instead of the OS.
