I know I'm a little bit late to the party with predictions this year, but better late than never.

Predictions for this year will be difficult. So many things have changed in 2007, it'll be hard to pinpoint anything that will come true for 2008.

Well, let's give it a go.

Back in December of 2006, I made five predictions. Let's see how I did...

Well, it's that time of year again when predictions run rampant, but before I start going off and making really strange predictions, I want to recap my predictions from last year just to find out how I did for my first time.

Post a comment if you think otherwise. :-)

Paid Posts and Reviews

I know I'm a little bit late on the Google paid links shakeup party, but I'm stating a case regarding my site with paid reviews or services.

Everyone is up in arms about the pay-per-post or paid links available and Google demoting sites because of paid links (Thanks for the update, Shoemoney). Personally, I'm in total agreement about what SEO experts are saying regarding the PageRank philosophy. Ignore PageRank and continue building your site with great content.

It boils down to your site having great content and your passion for that content. Period. If you don't have great content, then yes, you won't have much of a PageRank.

It's been over 6 years to the day since 9/11 and do we still have any resolution yet?

Last year, I posted the Remembrance of 9/11 with some excellent cartoons.

Keep in mind, these are not just cartoons, but patriotic memories to remind everyone of what happened 6 years ago today.

Will Firefox lead the Browser OS age?

Is Firefox in a position to go OS?

After reviewing a lot of Firefox extensions over the past two years with Fireday, I've noticed a lot of authors building add-ons geared towards making Firefox an Operating System (OS).

A Firefox OS? No Way!

Use Instant Messaging (IM) a lot? Whichever client you pick, here's a quick and easy way to keep track of your projects and tasks while chatting...with Timmy.

As a freelance developer/consultant, you always need to keep track of your projects and how much time you spend on them. I've seen some interesting ways of tracking projects using applications, but never with an Instant Messaging (IM) robot (bot).

Death 2.1

Scientists are creating new types of creatures? Are we prepared for this?

I'm taking a little tangent this morning to discuss an article I recently read last week . After reading the Newsweek article about Life 2.0, I knew I had to write something about this type of science technology.

Anyone who knows me, know that I love technology. It's my life. Using technology to save a life is even more rewarding. But using technology to create life?

Creating your own Creative Suite

Monday, April 30, 2007 6:00 AM

Do you really need to purchase a $1,000 suite if you have all of the applications at your fingertips?

A lot has changed over the past years with applications. Lately, Microsoft and Adobe are at each other and Adobe just released their new Creative Suite 2 of applications since the acquisition of Macromedia.

If you've purchased any Macromedia products, you'll notice that their upgrade path is a little steep, but provides you with an ample amount of applications to accomplish any print or web design/development you need.

Is HP still king of printers?

Not MFDs! Look below to find out who has dominated the MFD market. And it's not HP.

Since the purchase of a new PC, the office printer is now obsolete. Yes, it's very old (2 years old = 14 years in computer years).

Since I do a lot of graphics design and copying, I thought I'd purchase a MFD (multi function device) for the office.

Will Flash developers approach 6 figures?

Tuesday, January 02, 2007 8:00 AM

With Flash on 98% of all browsers, Flash developers are making a killing already. Will the Wii push the salaries even further?

After reading a recent post on FlashDen about Flash developer salaries on the rise, I began to think about how the recent development of Adobe Flash on the Nintendo Wii may take the developer's salaries even higher still. I've noticed a lot of people starting to create their design guides and techniques for the Wii.

Since I've purchased the Wii for Christmas, I've connected the Wii to the Internet and fully understand that if a game is multiplayer, Wii users will be able to play over the Internet. Again, if the game supports it.

I'll say it again. Microsoft wants to patent RSS?

No, not just RSS, but the software that runs on top of RSS?

I know I'm not a lawyer, but let's start with the basics.

Where did you put your Nintendo Wii?

Those upgrading from a GameCube to Nintendo Wii...Where are you putting it?

Do you know how long I've been holding out to write this post?

My wife stood in line for an hour back in October just to place a deposit down at the local GameStop and to guarantee we would receive a brand new Nintendo Wii this year. I nonchalantly walked into the store on November 19th, asked for the Wii, and left without a huge rush.

Why programming is fun

Why do you program? Do you love what you do or hate what you do?

Most people I talk to can't wrap their head around the concept of turning a hobby into a job or career. When you love to do something in your spare time, there comes a time when you realize you could actually make a living at this.

"You mean...make money? You would pay me to do something I love? Oh, that's ridiculous!"

Remembrance of 9/11

Do you remember where you were when the 9/11 disaster occurred?

Five years after the devastation of 9/11, I can still remember what I was doing down to the minute.

When I heard the news, I immediately called my family members and asked if everything was OK. After a confirmation call, I started scrounging for news and footage. As you would expect, news web sites were overloaded and started crashing because of the amount of hits they were receiving that day.

Radio Shack uses e-mail to fire employees

After reading this, I have very little respect for Radio Shack now.

I just found out about this and it happened on Tuesday morning and I am in shock.

On Tuesday, Radio Shack sent e-mails to 400 employees and digitally fired them. The e-mail read "The work force reduction notification is currently in progress. Unfortunately your position is one that has been eliminated."

Do end-users know the difference between AJAX and DHTML?

Monday, August 14, 2006 11:31 AM

Some users claim to have seen AJAX-enabled websites. Do end-users and developers know the difference between AJAX and DHTML?

There have been some web sites and discussions regarding users saying that a particular site is AJAX-enabled. However, when I get there, I don't see the AJAX functionality on the site. As a matter of fact, I only see DHTML or JavaScript widgets that interact with data on the screen. I swear its like tracking down an imaginary animal ("Dere it goes!").

Do end users believe that if you are using JavaScript on a page, then AJAX is involved? Sure, the JavaScript interacts with data on the page, page refreshes occur, and widgets change shape, but where is the AJAX?

Why money doesn't bring happiness

Friday, July 14, 2006 6:31 AM

Posted by Jonathan Danylko | Tag: Opinion | Comments: 0

Do you honestly think money would make you happier?

In a nationwide survey, the University of Michigan conducted a survey to a number of people, asking if you were rich, would you be happy?

Most of the time, people are content and satisfied. Heck, at this point in my life, I am extremely happy. If I did receive a large sum of money, my passion for computers and helping people with technology issues wouldn't fade at all.
