This week: Get Company Info

Get Company Info

Rating: 2/5

Executives are always looking to be ahead of their competition all of the time...at least most of the time. This extension assists that obsessive executive always tracking their stock, the competition's company news, or even their stock price.

Overview

The Get Company Info extension is really simple to use. The whole idea of the extension is to highlight a company name or ticker symbol, right-click on the highlighted area, and select 'Get Company Info.'

Definitely simple enough.

Installation

After installing the 75k extension and restart Firefox, the Get Company Info extension is located in the context menu.

Features

There really isn't enough features in this extension to make it a rich-content review. The extension is geared towards one thing and one thing alone: eliminate the extra steps of typing in Google Finance and just take them to the financial data their looking for.

Configuration

Unfortunately, there isn't a configuration section for this extension.

Conclusion

As I used this extension this past week, I did notice that when highlighting linked text, Get Company Info extension had a problem extracting the company name or ticker symbol from the link.

Overall, this extension is the equivalent of having a Google Finance Search Engine at your fingertips when you find a company you want to investigate further.

Get Company Info gets a 2 out of 5.

See ya next year.

This is the last Fireday post for the year. I will be taking some time off from writing and working on the site itself for 2008.

I will be adding a lot of additional Firefox and small business features. I just need the time to work on them.

And since it's the holiday season, I'm trying to pry myself away from my home office to spend time with my family.
