The newest Firefox extensions discussed every Friday.
There were a lot of cool new extensions this week, including the first one. I'm pumped up.
Google Notebook
For you pack-rats and researchers (maybe even bloggers for finding and storing content), the Google Notebook site was released earlier this week.
The Google Notebook is actually two-fold. Its a web site AND an extension. The web site's objective is to store all of your research in one location where the extension allows you to clip the information and transfer it to your Notebook.
The extension is only for Firefox 1.5, but I'm sure the extension will be adjusted to work with other browsers.
Using Google Notebook, I've noticed a couple of articles and posted them into my notebook regarding cancer and Dementia. Good to hang on to. But why wouldn't you just use Bookmarks/Favorites? Hmm...I guess I need to dig some more into the features.
So far, I like what I see. 5/5
TableSort
The TableSort extension takes a plain HTML table and sorts it by any column. If you press CTRL & ALT keys at the same time and click inside any table cell, the extension will auto-detect the values in the column and sort the table.
This extension is one of those utility extensions that are quite useful when viewing the data at a glance. If your really interested in manipulating the data, copy and paste the HTML table into Excel and analyze the data there.
Overall, I'd give this extension a 4/5 rating.
Server Switcher
The Server Switcher extension takes your development environment and switches back and forth between a "localhost" and your live server.
The extension is now installed and I'm slowly coming around to using it. :-) It is definitely convenient to just "flick the server switch" and you are back to your local machine.
This extension is another utility that web developers I'm sure will use. I like this utility. The rating? 4/5.
Again, If anyone wants me to review a particular extension, please let me know.
See ya next week.
