Things are getting a little too busy lately.
Since I've been working at my full-time job (with overtime), working on two products, four websites, and continuing to work with my existing 15 clients, I've been trying to make time for DCS Media.
Unfortunately, there is only so much time in a day.
Outlook Alternatives: Moving from Outlook to Thunderbird

MS Outlook has been around for a long time, but maybe it's time for a little change.
Outlook is one of the best known PIM's around because it comes with and integrates nicely into MS Office. However, since Google has taken MS Office online with their Google Docs, maybe it's time to move from Outlook to Thunderbird.
But isn't Thunderbird an email client? Yes, but so is Outlook. As well as email, Outlook also includes a contact list, a to-do list, and a calendar for your appointments.

A different rendition of "Twas the night before Christmas."
Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the house
not a device was active
except my DVR and my mouse
All servers were off,
the gaming consoles were humming
downloading their updates
to keep the gamers running.
Paid Posts and Reviews

I know I'm a little bit late on the Google paid links shakeup party, but I'm stating a case regarding my site with paid reviews or services.
Everyone is up in arms about the pay-per-post or paid links available and Google demoting sites because of paid links (Thanks for the update, Shoemoney). Personally, I'm in total agreement about what SEO experts are saying regarding the PageRank philosophy. Ignore PageRank and continue building your site with great content.
It boils down to your site having great content and your passion for that content. Period. If you don't have great content, then yes, you won't have much of a PageRank.

Ah yes, Black Friday. After everyone stuffs themselves on Thursday and rests, Friday comes along and everyone goes shopping...at 5:00a in the morning. :-)
The most popular Black Friday sites are listed below:
Halo Costume for Halloween

Since Halo is coming out next week, anyone interested in a super-duper replica of a Master Chief costume?
You could consider this a small business technology effort on the sellers part. It just amazes me the amount of detail and time some people put into certain tasks to make a profit.
With Halo gone gold this week, I'm sure a lot of kids will be looking for a Halo costume for Halloween just to get into the spirit of things. However, this Halo costume is a bit extreme.

It's been over 6 years to the day since 9/11 and do we still have any resolution yet?
Last year, I posted the Remembrance of 9/11 with some excellent cartoons.
Keep in mind, these are not just cartoons, but patriotic memories to remind everyone of what happened 6 years ago today.
Exceptional Food Site...by CNET?

Looking for a stylish food site that deals with everything from recipes to videos? It seems CNET is expanding.
I ran across CHOW through FeedMyApp and the site definitely caught my attention. Not because the site is labeled as a "Web 2.0" site, but visibly, the CNET design team was able to transfer the look and feel of a CNET personality to the site as well.
What blew my mind was that CHOW was created by CNET and is now included in the CNET Network of sites.

A great list of flagship content was posted today on ChrisG.com. Excellent posts abound!
If you blog for a living, most of you know what flagship content is. If not, I would recommend checking out Chris Garrett's web site at ChrisG.com.
He made an announcement a week ago asking if everyone could send him their flagship content. Judging by the list, everyone obliged him and as a result, he posted the entire list of his Flagship Content Roundup.
Business 2.0: Uh-oh.

Business 2.0 is on it's way out based on some interesting news.
Based on what I've been reading lately from Valleywag, it seems that the Business 2.0 magazine is going out of business. Ironic, is it not?
The New York Times originally talked about this problem three days ago. According to the article, current and former employees of Time Inc. thought that a bad move occurred:

The bus arrived on Friday in Columbus, OH.
Friday was a great day for bloggers in Columbus, OH. The Blog Tour USA bus with Joe and Rudy from Sellsius stopped at the Real Living HER Realtors office in Worthington.
Maureen McCabe, who is also a realtor and owner of ColumbusBestBlog.com, organized the stop and we all had a great picnic outside with hot dogs, chips, and refreshments.

One of the men who got me hooked on computers and programming.
Everyone who knows me knows that computers have been part of my life since I received my Commodore VIC-20 back in 1981. Since then, I've always been fascinated and immediately knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life: program.
One individual, specifically an author, was considered my mentor even though he never knew me.

RoosterTeeth just posted their last 100th episode of Red vs Blue.
The awesome people at Rooster Teeth released the 100th final episode of Red vs. Blue.
For those who haven't seen Red vs. Blue, I would definitely recommend watching the final episode and then watch the entire seasons from start to finish.

Take a spin on the new DCS Media.
Over the past four months, I have been working on this new design and this is the result.
For those who know me, I decided to build my own blog system. It was custom built from the ground up and provides a lot of features that the fully-loaded blogs contain.
Is HP still king of printers?

Not MFDs! Look below to find out who has dominated the MFD market. And it's not HP.
Since the purchase of a new PC, the office printer is now obsolete. Yes, it's very old (2 years old = 14 years in computer years).
Since I do a lot of graphics design and copying, I thought I'd purchase a MFD (multi function device) for the office.

Guitar Hero Alternative: Frets On Fire!

Rock On, Man! Even without a Playstation or XBox.
Guitar Hero is one of those games you have to try just to see if you can. Just make sure you don't have anyone else around you. It's hilarious.
I have to admit that I liked playing Guitar Hero on the Playstation at my friends house and yes, I did look silly playing that guitar, swinging my arms and the guitar into the air.
No comment...for now.

Comments are disabled for the moment.
For a brief time, comments are disabled for three reasons:
- I'm testing out the new design of the site which uses a new method of adding comments to the site.
- The office is slowly being upgraded (hardware-wise) and work is backing up.
- Just because I'm really tired of comment spammers.
In a couple of weeks, I'll reveal the new site. Everything should be back to normal and I'll turn the comments back on.
