A Tribute to Jim Butterfield

One of the men who got me hooked on computers and programming.

Everyone who knows me knows that computers have been part of my life since I received my Commodore VIC-20 back in 1981. Since then, I've always been fascinated and immediately knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life: program.

One individual, specifically an author, was considered my mentor even though he never knew me.

Recently, I just found out about the passing of Jim Butterfield.

Jim Butterfield was the author of many Commodore books and who I definitely looked up to with his clean coding and exceptional simplicity in his programming. This is the man I wanted to take after.

After 25 years of coding (and still learning), Jim Butterfield was the one person who started me down the career path of IT developer. His books were definitely inspirational and his programming techniques still ring true in some of my coding today.

I would like to offer my condolences to Mr. Butterfield's family. He was truly a teacher who was passionate about his subjects.

Thank  you, Jim Butterfield, for your teachings and inspiration.
