Not MFDs! Look below to find out who has dominated the MFD market. And it's not HP.
Since the purchase of a new PC, the office printer is now obsolete. Yes, it's very old (2 years old = 14 years in computer years).
Since I do a lot of graphics design and copying, I thought I'd purchase a MFD (multi function device) for the office.
A lot of people want a 4-in-1 device, which includes the printer, scanner, copier, and fax. In this case, a 3-in-1 (minus the fax) will suffice.
After looking over reviews this past weekend, I've noticed something a little strange. HP doesn't have the top MFD's. Want to know who does?
Canon.
Yes, Canon.
Here's some research results:
- CNet - Top Inkjet MFDs - Only one HP is listed. The rest are Canon.
- PCWorld - Top Inket Multifunction printers - In the list, there are three 3 Canons at the top, one HP, and one Epson.
- ConsumerSearch.com - Multifunction Printer Reviews - Canons occupies the top four and the remaining two are a Dell and an Epson. Where's HP?
Very interesting. I've always gone with HP, but it seems I may need to divert myself and move towards the better MFD.
Now, if you are just using it for printing, then HP is definitely in the top 5, but since I have a need for an MFD, it seems Canon is the way to go for now.
In case anyone is interested, I selected a Canon Pixma MP600 and I'm picking it up this week.
