Another take on what Web 2.0 really is.

When the Web 2.0 buzzword came out, people started scratching their heads and asking, "Well, what is it?"

The best definition I heard was from Paul Boutin on Slate.

"Web 2.0 is the network as platform, spanning all connected devices; Web 2.0 applications are those that make the most of the intrinsic advantages of that platform: delivering software as a continually-updated service that gets better the more people use it, consuming and remixing data from multiple sources, including individual users, while providing their own data and services in a form that allows remixing by others, creating network effects through an "architecture of participation," and going beyond the page metaphor of Web 1.0 to deliver rich user experiences. ...Web 2.0 is made of people!"

-Paul Bouton on Slate.com

Now, Jeff Nolan, director of the Apollo Strategy Group at SAP Ventures, talks to InfoWorld about what Web 2.0 includes. In Jeff's opinion, he also talks about collaboration:

Collaboration is a big factor in Web 2.0 but not just blogs and wikis. Also part of Web 2.0 is the ability to deliver ad hoc, user-generated applications but not necessarily mashups. Blogs and wikis, meanwhile, could be a precursor to something more compelling.

Anybody have their own definition?
